North East Lupus Group is a part of the national charity LUPUS UK. The charity presently has over 5300 Members and a number of Regional Groups around the UK who arrange medical talks, publish local newsletters, set up local occasions and organise fundraising events. We provide support for those with Lupus and their families in the North East region of the United Kingdom. LUPUS UK also produces an informative national magazine with lupus articles, letters, reports, and photographs, and provides grants for research and specialist lupus nurses. We help Lupus UK to promote awareness of Lupus using their publicity materials, and we contact local hospitals regularly to update them on our work. The medical professionals provide diagnosis and treatment for Lupus, but we believe the best way to learn how to manage your life when you have Lupus, is to talk to other people who have learnt to live WITH Lupus rather than fighting AGAINST it.
